Elizabeth Polk is a Graduate Research Assistant with the Department of Political Science at the University of New Brunswick. She is a recent graduate of St. Thomas University where she Honored in International Relations with a double minor in Economics and Journalism. During her studies Elizabeth took a special interest in global climate change policies, specifically the gender disparities within them. Her thesis focused on the Global Emissions Trading System and Global Trash Trading analyzing how the male dominated policy process affects women. Elizabeth participated in an exchange in Sweden during her third year where she learned about Sweden’s government, gender, and climate change policies. Elizabeth is originally from the US but has lived in Canada for the past four years pursing her degree and has also traveled all over Europe, Brazil, Argentina, and Tanzania seeking to learn more about the world first hand.
Elizabeth is assisting in researching the design and implementation of provincial renewable procurement standards in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. She is eager to apply her knowledge from her bachelor’s degree to further investigate key issues in her place of residence.
Elizabeth is involved in a project called, "Generating Positive Feedback: Renewable Procurement Design and Implementation in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick 2006-2020", with Heather Millar
