Dr. Evan Davies is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada. His research focuses on water resources planning and management, and in particular on numerical simulation of the impacts of alternative management policies on water resources at scales from local to global. With his students and collaborators, he has published in top journals such as Nature Communications, Hydrology and Earth System Sciences, Water Resources Research, Environment International, Environmental Science and Technology, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Environmental Research Letters. Recent projects have focused on development of a Canadian version of the Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM) for national energy policy assessment, municipal water demand projections for Calgary and Edmonton using system dynamics and machine learning approaches, water resources systems modelling, irrigation reservoir management and streamflow projections for the Bow River Basin, Alberta, and decision support tool development for mitigation of chloramine pollution in urban stormwater. In addition to domestic collaborations, he has also worked with researchers at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory for over ten years, and with researchers in China. Dr. Davies received a PhD from the University of Western Ontario (2007), and Masters in Environmental Studies (MES, 2003) and Bachelors in Systems Design Engineering (BASc, 2001) degrees from the University of Waterloo.
