With a background in regional and urban planning and geomatics, Michaela is currently working towards a PhD in Environment and Sustainability at the University of Saskatchewan under the supervision of Dr. Maureen Reed and Dr. Sheri Andrews-Key. Her research focuses on how social dimensions, such as gender and racialized identity, affect the ways in which individuals and groups experience and respond to climate change events. Specifically, she is currently examining how these social dimensions might be best accounted for in order to improve climate adaptation planning strategies for resource-based communities in Canada.
